A subdomain is a subsection of your website with its own unique content that allows you to send visitors to a different web address without having a new domain name. To create a subdomain in your web hosting account, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Login to your Intertune Control Panel, go to the 'Web Hosting' services and click on 'List Domains'. Choose the domain name you wish to access and click on the "Subdomains" tab.
In the "Subdomains" tab, you can see two options: Add Subdomain and List Subdomains. "Add Subdomain" is for creating new subdomains and the "List Subdomains" is for viewing all the subdomains associated with your domain.
Step 2: Click "Add Subdomain". Enter the desired prefix in the Subdomain text box.
For example: if you wish to create a subdomain named as blog.domain.com, you can enter blog as the prefix in the Subdomain text box.
Step 3: Click "Add Subdomain" button. You will see a success message "Your subdomain has been added"
Modify the document root for a Subdomain
Normally, the document root (web root) of newly created subdomain "blog.domain.com" exists as a subdirectory (here it is 'blog') of your public_html (document root) directory.
Step 4: To modify the document root, click the gear icon that corresponds to the subdomain that you want to manage.
Step 5: Now, you will see a new window like below.
Step 6: To change the document root directory, remove "blog" and add your new document root directory name. For example, I want to use a new document root directory "test" here, so I removed "blog" and added "test".
Step 7: Click the Update button. It will modify the current document root of the subdomain from public_html/blog to public_html/test.
Note: There is no need to create the new document root manually. Once you click on the Update button, it will automatically create your new document root directory. If you want to use an existing directory as the new document root, you can simply remove the old directory name from the text box and add a new one. Click the Update button.
That's it!
